"Oh no! The Red Balloon!" I believe it was the one and only full length movie owned by Dexter Park Elementary School. We watched it every year, K-3, every time there was an all faculty meeting, recess cancelled by snow or rain, etc. Everyone would groan when we were hustled into the cafetorium to sit on the floor while this scratchy B&W movie played!

Ha! I love that, Cathy! Now that sounds pretty dreamy. :)

I'm so thankful you decided to write this. I've felt similar with the endless stream of bad news that we consume daily and without warning. Doing small things to help seems to be more fulfilling and productive than adding to the constant sharing of bad news and complaining how awful the world is. We need more of this. Honest communication and doing our small parts to bring goodness to the world. I'm excited to see where your curiosity leads you!

Thanks, Morgan! I think (and hope) small acts for others and ourselves make a world of difference.

I love this, and now I want all the books I write to be about how life is hard and beautiful at the same time! Sorry you started the year feeling so low. You describe it so well, and a digital detox sounds like the perfect medicine, paired with a curiosity spiral in the library! And personally, so inspiring for me. Thank you!!

Thank you, Ella! I have a feeling we're all feeling apprehensive about this year. The digital space is getting so loud! I need a little more quiet. I hope you have some fascinating curiosity spirals this year! xo

Yes, it’s got so loud. It feels like it could be a turning point in history now. But who knows?! Thank you!

Ooh, I love the idea of curiosity spirals! And steve and steve! Like you, I've been taking more social media breaks and feeling drawn to tangible objects. Right now, I'm painting a pattern across one wall of my office and it has been wonderful to fall into flow like that. Sending you all the best curiosity vibes :)

Ooh Rachel! I can't wait to see what you're painting. How fun!

Thank you!! I think I’m going to try to make a youtube video about it. My first one…we’ll see. If I get too shy, I’ll at least share process photos haha

Don’t be shy!! You shine on camera.

Curiosity spirals is such a great term for a concept!!! I didn’t realize how much I needed a name for that.

🙂 it feels like a very pleasurable spinning wheel 🌀

Thanks for this, Taylor. I feel less alone but also encouraged to follow my own spirals instead of letting the paralysis of overwhelm and shoulds and all the rest get in the way.
