When I discovered I was pregnant with my first child almost ten years ago, one of the things I immediately thought was, “I can’t wait to take them to the library!” For many book lovers, the library is magical: the smell of old books, the quiet corners, the stories. Plus, you get to take home books for FREE! I recently downloaded my first audiobook from my library (for free!). I was thrilled but also a little annoyed about how much money I’d spent on audiobooks without needing to. Even as someone who reads and recommends a lot of books, I find the library overwhelming. If my children and I don’t go in with some sort of plan, we panic, then we become exasperated by decision fatigue and end up leaving with a stack of books we’re not excited about. This has nothing to do with librarians. Librarians are fantastic; they’re there to help!
